Simon XT Group Numbers for which Sensors ???
« on: May 02, 2010, 07:39:29 AM »
Question for you guys ...

I installed the GE Simon XT this weekend in my home ... Whenever I arm Doors and Windows, my Motion Sensors are arming as well ... I suspect it's the fact that I have all Sensors to Group 10 ... What Group should my Doors/Window be set to and then what should the Motion Sensors be set to?  I can't find this information in the Manuals ... Thanks.

Group #'s on the install sheet that comes with it.

Instant door or window is 13
Delay door or a window is 10
motion is 17 to work motion button.

Need any others?

Dis-Regard -
I figured it out -
I didn't have my door sensors hooked up, so Alarm system didn't see me exit therefore putting alarm in Stay mode automatically!
Thanks anyway!

Can you please walk me through what you mean by door sensor hooked up?  I have group 10 for doors+windows and group 17 for motions and same issue you have.  MOtions not staying armed after countdown.  I even tried leaving a door open then arming doors+windows and motions then closing the door?  Is there a certain sensor type the door needs to be setup as or group for it.  Maybe I need to change its name setup from garage door that is an entry/exit door to interior door?

I think the previous guy was using a wired door sensor.

Assuming you are using a wireless door sensor on the entry/exit door and it is setup as a group 10...here's the logic:

1. By default, if there is no exit after arrming the motion button, the system will turn the motion off, this is to prevent false alarms because most people do not use a motion while at home, they will trigger it by moving around, However, I know some setups can use this if the motion is in another area of the house, etc.

2. You can make your motion active with the Doors button by programming it as a 15. There is no delay though.

Changing the name does nothing, its just there for us humans.

If you arm both then leave, or at least open and close the door (e/e sensor) - or use the keyfob to arm the motion will stay on. (group 17).

Please explain further if this doesnt help.
