DSC1832 Installation Help Needed!
« on: April 05, 2008, 06:33:39 AM »
I'm trying to install a DSC 1832 with RFK5501. All I want is 1 instant zone for windows, 1 relayed zone for doors and the DSC wireless key(WS4939),  Also scirens. I will not have a phone line hooked to the system.  I have it hooked up and it shows an error because of the phone line and shows all zones are open. If I bypass all zones it will arm. It will arm manually also, so I know that is working. But my problem is how to program the key pad and system. I really don't understand the book! Any help on where to start would be appreciated.

Have you completed the programming worksheet?

This worksheet is a MUST so you can track any changes that are needed.

If no phone or monitoring.....you need to turn off the TLM (telephone line monitor). This will throw an error message as it is looking for a working line.

You must also set the date and time each time if the system is shut-down for any reason by unplugging and unhooking the battery.

After any program changes....it is a good idea to shutdown and restart the system.

What code is the TLM under and how is it turned off? Can I do this now or do I need to follow a specific order?

Sec 015............turn off TLM........#7 to off. The system default is on.

This must be turned off.

Ok, I cleared the phone. I have windows on zone 1 and doors on zone2. It will only arm when I bypass zone 7 and 8.But when I set it off by opening a door it goes off instant not delay. I entered 002 01 ##  and 001 03 ##.  It will not let me enter anything in 003 or 004.

What zones are you using and what is on each zone?

What zones do you want as delay zones?

Zone 1, I have all windows and want to be instant

Zone 2, I have doors and want to be delay

Zone 3, I have a garage door that i want to be long delay (I just added this to 3 but when I push *8 555 003 it will not let me enter anything. I can add under the 001 and 002 which I put 01 and 03. but it doesn't not delay cause when I arm and open the door it goes off instant. Also the only way I can arm is to by pass zone 7 & 8. I have nothing hooked to them.

hehe......entering *8 5555 001 has the panel waiting for 16 two digit entries that will define zones 1 thru 16......so you entries will look like *8 5555 001 03 01 02 followed by 13 00's.......cheers

You need to re-read the "how to program" section and complete the programming worksheet.

Here is how to program zones 1 thru 16........they are in section 001. You must specify each zone and it's proper definition.

*8 {5555} 001 01 03             = instant zone defintion for zone 1
                       02 01             = delayed zone defintion for zone 2
                       03 02             = second delayed defintion for zone 3
                       04 00             = null zone (not used)
                       05 00             = null zone (not used)
                       06 00
                       07 00
                       08 00
                       09 00
                       10 00
                       11 00
                       12 00
                       13 00
                       14 00
                       15 00
                       16 00
# #                              to exit programming mode.   all zones 1 thru
16 section 001 are now programmed for
                                    defintions.

Write this on your programming worksheet for reference.

You MUST go to sections 101 to 116 and set the attributes for each zone #1 thru #16.........enter programming *8 {5555} 101 03 xx
                                                                         102 01 xx
                                                                         103 02 xx

03, 02, 01 = what you have already set for zone defintions in sections 001 to 016.

xx = what you set for zone attributes (see guide in programming worksheet)

## = exit programming.........record on worksheet

next..........you must program delay times in section 005 (in seconds) for partition 1.........everything is set to PARTITION #1 !

*8 {5555} 01 030 180 060 ##

You have set delay #1 to 30 seconds, delay #2 (garage door) to 180 seconds, and exit delay to 60 seconds.

Keep reading and keep programming.......

You probably only need to set the bell cut-off time and program user codes to be up and running

When you are in section 001 programming zone definitions.

The zone numbers should come up automaticaly and it will progress to the definition for the next zone after each "two digit entry".

*8 {5555} 101 03 01 02 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ##

*8 5555 101    or  102   or 103    I get               Toggle Operation with 1234-67-

*8 5555 104    I get     _ _ _ _ _ _

If a number in the "toggle" shows, then that option is turned on. No number shown.........option is off.

You have to set, or unset, all 8 options as you deem necessary for the attributes.

Example.......if you do not have wireless..............turn "toggle" 8 off.

I'm confuse on this one.

When I go to
*8 5555 101    or  102   or 103    I get

Toggle Operation with 1234-67- (This is what shows,I never entered anything) So does this mean 123467 are on? The book says not to change 5, so is that why 5 doesn't show? So to leave one of these numbers off you leave the number out? Why the dashes between 1234-67-? So these are the three zones,101,102,103 that I am using if so leave the others blank? like 104 below?

*8 5555 104    I get     _ _ _ _ _ _

Refer to pages 15/16 and page 32 of the manual for zone attribute information.
