trouble light/unable to reset system power 632
« on: February 01, 2007, 04:57:20 PM »
DSC Power 632 with RF5501-433 keypad
5 wireless door sensors
3 wireless motion detectors
system is less than 3 weeks old and was working perfectly

I came home today to find my Power 632 beeping with the trouble light on and no information of any sort on the keypad (RF5501-433). I tried *2, but the keypad wouldn't accept any input. I powered down the system, unhooked the ac and battery. I waited about 5 minutes the hooked up the battery and ac and powered up the system again.

The keypad then showed a blank time display like --:--. After about 15 seconds, the trouble light came on and the keypad started beeping again and wouldn't accept any input.

I did a factory restore of the system, following the instructions in the manual. Powered back up, but still had the same problem.

I changed keypads with another RF5501, but that didn't help either. I checked for 18 vac coming into the panel and had it. Battery is showing 12 vdc so I assume it's OK.

I fear that my control panel board somehow burned out today.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I had a similiar issue , except the keypad wasn,t beeping. After calling tech support,I was told the kepad had locked itself out of the system. THey told me to hold the # button for three seconds and then the 1 button for three seconds and it actually unlocked.
Maybe the same situation here, not sure but worth a try.

Thanks...that got my system back up, except that now it won't recognize any of my wireless motion detectors. All the other wireless devices work. Hummm...

At least now I can get in and reprogram the system.

Thanks much!

You said you did a factory reset.
Did you re-program everything back into the system?
(A factory reset wipes out all program info)

Yeah, once I was able to get back into the programming mode with the keypad, I reprogrammed everything. All is well now. Everything is working again.

Thanks for the help. This is a really great forum!
